For this year's Pack 108 camping trip we are going back to Novato. We leave Saturday, May 22nd and get back Sunday, May 23rd. All the information and maps you need are on this page. (You can print this page.)

The price for this trip is $15/adult and $15/scout.

Your Den leaders / coordinators will be collecting money from you. All money should be delivered NO LATER THAN Tuesday May 18th.

Your leaders will make out one check to cover your entire Den, made payable to Barry Murphy. Be aware that some dens share family members. With the one check, leaders will also turn in the list of names of who is going: adults and scouts.

Assignments & Meeting:

Here are examples of the shopping and camping duties to be assigned. You'll be reimbursed at Camp for anything you have to buy.

We are going to Costco no later than Thursday, May 20th at 5:30 p.m. to do the shopping. We need 3 at Costco and another 4 guys to meet at Pak'n Save at 8 p.m that same night, located at 2255 Gellert Blvd, South San Francisco to load up your coolers from home.

- washed fresh fruit (we will give you all the supplies in S.F.)

- bring firewood supplies: bucket, shovel, matches, etc. to Camp (we will give you all the supplies in S.F.)

- smores at the campout (we will give you all the supplies in S.F.)

- bring your large coolers; we will load your truck.

THE PLACE

Rustic Meadows has 10 picnic tables, a portable BBQ and toilets. There is a volleyball area on the grass & ballgames can be played on pasture grounds. Ground is too uneven for soccer. Fishing with license. Drinking water is available. Rustic Meadows is popular with Boy Scout & Girl Scout Troops. Click here for pictures.

We "checkin" Saturday. We have the place all day, starting when the park opens at 7 a.m. Be sure to arrive before the gates close at 7 p.m. We are planning an afternoon hike before dinner.

Baseball Season is here! Come after your game if there is a conflict; the gates don't close until 7 p.m.

We "checkout" Sunday. Our reservation says to vacate the site by 10 a.m. The Park Ranger might extend this time if no other group is arriving on Sunday. We can have lunch at our campsite.

ENTRANCE FEES & TRANSPORTATION
There is a $7.00 per car entrance fee AND a $10.00 per car overnight parking fee. This is separate and will be collected by the Park Ranger when you arrive. Everyone pays their own--so carpooling is recommended to save on costs. Your vehicles will not be parked far from where we will be camping.There is no limit on the number of cars that are allowed to park overnight.

Directions & click here for a simple map: Take Highway 101, cross Golden Gate Bridge. Approximately 20 miles after the Bridge, take the Atherton/San Marin Drive Exit. Go west (left) over the freeway. You are now on San Marin Drive. Go 1-2 miles and make a right at Novato Boulevard. Continue past Indian Valley Golf Club & Stafford Watershed. The Lake will appear on your left. The Stafford Lake Park Entrance will be the first entrance on your left.

"BE PREPARED" FOR CAMPING OUT
· Tent, ground cover, tent stakes & mallet
· Foam mattress or air mattress & pump
· Sleeping bag. Small pillow or rolled up jacket.
· One flashlight per person
· Lantern for lighting our dinner tables & inside your tent
· Toothbrush/paste, comb, deodorant, small container of liquid soap, towel
· First-aid - mosquitoes, wasps, insects, cuts, sprains, pulling splinters
· Prescription or allergy medication?
· Optional: Camera, watch, nature books, bottled water, lawn chairs, walkie-talkies, binoculars
· Free dress, no uniforms, but Tiger Cubs wear orange tops on Saturday
· Rugged pants (jeans) & shorts. No swimming trunks.
· One extra set of undergarments & top
· Warm jacket and/or hooded sweatshirt. It's cold at night!
· Before bed, wash-up, complete change of undergarments
· Nightwear: sweatpants, sweatshirt, socks & knit cap. It's windy!
· No mess kits or utensils are needed for meals (We will provide.)
· Plastic grocery bags for dirty clothes & wet things
· Bring your: football, cards, frisbee, volleyball, field too uneven for soccer
· Put your name on everything: flashlight, lantern, balls, sweatshirt, cap
· After you're completely packed, go through your stuff one more time to see if you can eliminate weight. Traveling "light" is more fun!
· Bring your favorite jokes, riddles and skits for our campfire!

"BE PREPARED" FOR HIKING
· Cap to block the sun. Do not bring your Cub Scout cap, you might lose it
· Small waist/fanny pack & a water bottle. Scouts, no backpacks on hikes.
· Sunglasses & sunscreen
· Outdoor/athletic shoes with good treads

WHO IS THIS TRIP FOR:
· Registered Cub Scouts of Pack 108.
· Parent or legal guardian.
· No siblings.
Also, older siblings are not allowed as adult substitutes.

GROUND RULES
· This trip is for parent(s) and their registered Cub Scouts of Pack 108.
· No siblings, unless they are Boy Scouts or registered P108 Cub Scouts.
· This is critter country, any food in your tent will attrack "visitors"
· Quiet time is from 10:00 p.m. to 7 a.m.
· No tobacco or alcohol. No glass bottles. No pocketknives (adults okay).
· No firearms.
· No rock or stick playing. Leave everything where Mother Nature put it.
· Hiking sticks are okay only when hiking.
· No wandering off alone or off the trails. No running through camp.
· No electronics, including radios, Game Boys, cd players. No pets.
· Scouts, please help adults transport gear, setup & "break" camp...then play!
· Scouts, you can use a school backpack to be in charge of your own gear.
· Parents, please keep an eye on your scouts, the "leaders" have lots to do.
· At night, parents occupy a tent only with their own children. If you bring someone else's scout on this trip also, then scouts sleep in one tent & the adult sleeps in a separate tent close by.

WHEN YOU GET BACK HOME
Wash all clothing & check for hitch-hiking ticks
